Goering, Jacob (d. 1807)

GOERING, Jacob, a learned minister of the German Lutheran denomination in York, Penns. He commenced the labors of his profession when only twenty years of age, and died in 1807, aged 52 years. He was president of the synod of his denomination in the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. He was a distinguished scholar ; and among the languages, with which he was acquainted, the Hebrew and Arabic were his favorites.
